Factory Droid
Factory Droid is Factory's terminal agent. Its BYOK custom model settings can point Droid at ModelGo's OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
Prerequisites
- Node.js 18+ and the Droid CLI are installed.
- A ModelGo API key is available from ModelGo Console.
- You know the logical model ID from the Model Catalog.
1. Install and start Droid
bash
npm install -g droid
droid --version
droidInside Droid, /settings opens the settings screen.
2. Configure a ModelGo custom model
Merge this customModels entry into ~/.factory/settings.json (Windows: %USERPROFILE%\\.factory\\settings.json):
json
{
"customModels": [{
"model": "your-model-id",
"displayName": "ModelGo / your-model-id",
"baseUrl": "https://api.modelgo.ai/v1",
"apiKey": "${MODELGO_API_KEY}",
"provider": "openai"
}]
}bash
export MODELGO_API_KEY="sk-your-token"Restart Droid and choose the custom model from /models or the model picker.
3. Verify a request
bash
curl https://api.modelgo.ai/v1/models -H "Authorization: Bearer $MODELGO_API_KEY"
droid exec --model "your-model-id" "Describe this project in one sentence"Troubleshooting
The model is not listed
Validate the JSON, keep customModels at the top level, and fully restart Droid.
Authentication or endpoint errors
Check the environment variable in the shell that launches Droid and remove duplicate /v1 or full paths from baseUrl.
